I have seen lots of lists on how to earn extra money while looking for a new job. Here is a list I put together, to add to all the others.

1. Become a worker for the next census.
2. Look into house sitting.
3. Call all the local research houses and see if you can get on a panel.
4. Call all the local research houses and see if you can get a group session.
5. Rent out rooms in your house.
6. If you have the chops, teach music.
7. If you have the inclination, tutor in math or composition.
8. See if you can usher or collect tickets.
9. Clean out the basement and attic and sell the stuff.
10. Look into teaching your hobby if you are really good at it.
11. Give presentations on your area of expertise and charge attendees.
12. Check out the local schools; maybe you can be a substitute teacher.
13. Look into keeping someone’s blog up to date.
14. Do errands and small jobs for local people.
15. Work small projects for a local non-profit.
